China Will Test Straddling Bus That Drives Over The Highway

China's new Straddling Bus alleviates smog and transportation issues by driving over cars on the road.

China has been dealing with population issues in their transit systems for a long time now. The Straddle Bus is the new cheap solution to these issues. It will glide 2 meters above rails on streets and has the ability to travel at speeds of up to 60 kph. This prototype design allows cars to travel underneath the bus while the bus glides over effectively doubling the road space. The Straddle Bus is being built by Transit Explore Bus and will be testing the design soon.

The point of this project is to utilize roadways already in place to avoid building costly subways or trams. With this design the cost will be drastically reduced. This project also reduces the carbon emissions in cities by replacing cars on the streets.

This idea for a bus over the roadway was first conceived in the 60's but was impossible until now. Our modern technology has made it possible for China to provide its cities with cleaner environments and faster travel. Testing is said to begin in August of 2036.
